The conference “Women’s Leadership in Serbia – From Statistics to Personal Stories” brought together prominent business leaders, experts and representatives of international organisations to discuss the current position of women in leadership, the challenges they face and the opportunities for further progress in Serbia.
The event was jointly organised on the initiative of the Belgian-Serbian Business Association in cooperation with the Hellenic Business Association of Serbia, Croatian Chamber of Economy and the British-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Through two panel discussions, the conference combined statistical insights, international perspectives and personal experiences, highlighting the importance of collaboration in advancing women’s leadership.
The first panel focused on the current state of women's leadership, examining progress, remaining barriers and opportunities for improvement. Speakers included Marina Rožić (Eurochambres Women Network), Sanja Popović Pantić (Association of Business Women in Serbia), Danijela Ristovski (Commissioner for the Protection of Equality), Milica Pavić (Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and Milana Rikanović (UN Women). The discussion connected European perspectives and statistical findings with the realities of the Serbian business environment.
The second panel shifted the focus from statistics to personal leadership experiences, exploring decision-making, responsibility and the challenges of leading organisations in an evolving business environment. BSBA members played a valuable role in this discussion, with Milica T. Jevtić (FEDIAF) bringing an international perspective on leadership and Natalija Popović Maksimović (Popović, Popović & Partners) offering a fresh perspective from a new generation. Together with Sanja Stanimirović (Tester-Al), Dr Ioanna Batsialou (Ioanna Regen), Sandra Vučurović (Marsh) and Mirjana Garapić Zakany (Milenijum osiguranje), they explored the decisions, responsibilities and challenges that define leadership in practice.
Our sincere thanks to all speakers, partners and guests for making this event such a valuable exchange of ideas.
Because progress is not just about having a seat at the table. It’s about what we do with it.
